Having been to many weddings this past year I got to thinking, What should Brides and Grooms Look for when selecting a venue for their reception. When Planning your wedding there are many things to consider. One of the most important aspect of your wedding which should be given much consideration is where you are going to have your wedding reception.
When making this important decision you should map out a budget and create a list of what you want and/or envision your wedding reception venue to include, look like, offer and so on. You should also keep in mind what you feel is the most important and by saying this I mean what are you paying for? Are you paying for the food, the location, the view? Well you get the point. In my case I wanted to have a room with great ambiance an unique entrance for my Husband and I to be introduced, a place to take wedding photos both outdoors and indoor (in case of rain), and most importantly GREAT food and A vast supply of beverages alcoholic and non-alcoholic . I was able to obtain all these things I was looking for at the venue I selected for my wedding reception. My choice also came with a two year waiting list which was a price I was willing to pay to secure that particular venue.
When selecting your venue you should ask for a sample of the menu, discuss any special arrangements or requests you have. You should also inquire about a tasting and be suspicious of venues which do not offer any food tastings. Ask for vendor recommendations such as florists that they frequently work with as well as photographers and so on, you might be able work in some discounts. But most importantly make sure this is the venue you want to choose before you book it.
I hope this was a helpful blog. Please don’t forget to visit us at Platinum Nuptials for all your wedding favor and wedding accessory needs.

How to Save on Your Wedding Reception Menu:
You want to have the wedding of you dreams but you don’t want to go in debt doing so. Here are some tips that might help you save money when planning your wedding reception menu.
The Cocktail Hour: Everyone loves a cocktail hour so instead of cutting one out trying scaling back. In place of offering a buffet station pass around hor d’oeuvers. By doing so it is possible to save as much as 25% off your total bill.
Opt Out of a Seafood Bar/Station: This is one of the most expensive compnents of a cocktail hour. If fish is among your favorite food you can request that your caterer encorperate seafood elements into other dishes such as toppers at the pasta station.
Portion Control: When selecting your dinner menu ask your caterer to practice portion control. Serving smaller yet still generous portions may cut costs by two-thirds.
Selecting In Season Foods: Discuss what foods are available during the season of your planned nuptials and you might be able to cut some costs.
Lobster as a Garnish Not a Meal: Every one would like to say that they offered elegant meals at their wedding. Lobsters and lobster tails are going to increase the cost of your wedding menu budget. Discuss with your caterer alternatives to adding the lobster element such ass adding lobster meat as a garnish in place of a full serving guests full shelled pieces.

Choosing Your Wedding Color Scheme:
Summer time is the perfect time to express your passion for color. Bold and Spicy color combinations are a great way to add a twist to your favorite colors. If you like pink try choosing something in coral, for blue try turquoise. My favorite wedding color was red when and for my summer wedding I selected a rich wine color that carried throughout my wedding from the bridesmaids dresses to the flowers. If you want to create a softer look for your wedding you may want to choose a muted color and pair it with crisp white or herbal green. When selecting you color palette keep in mind less is more! Don’t use more than three different color combinations.

Weddings can be costly. The average wedding cost in America ranges from $25,000.00 to $45,000.00 according to national surveys. In this economy everyone is looking for savings and couples planning a wedding are of no exception. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to have your fantasy wedding. Here are some tips you can use to save money when planning your big day.
Selecting your date:
Peak wedding season lasts from May through september, that’s the time in which you are more likely to see wedding industry prices escelate. This does not mean you need to change the time of year you want to get married. If you want a summer wedding you can take advantage of lower rates by hosting your wedding on a Friday night or Sunday Afternoon. The same wedding package can cost up to 20% less on a Friday night or Sunday afternoon than a Saturday night wedding.
Another Option is to select certin holiday weekends, such as memorial day weekend and labor day weekend. On certain holiday weekends many resturants and hotels offer special discounts to make up for lost business.
Some Locations May Cost Less:
Hotel ballrooms and banquet halls are appealing but a good alternative is to consider sites that don’t specialize in weddings, where prices are likely to be lower. Some locations at are beautiful and should be considered include, winery’s, museums, botanical gardens, art galleries, historic sites/estates or yacht clubs.
Have your ceremony and reception in the same venue. You’ll will only have to pay one site fee and you wont need to hire transportation to take you from one place to another.

Spring Décor Dos
It’s springtime, so planning for appropriate décor is important. One way to incorporate spring into your wedding reception is to use lightweight fabrics such as organdy and linens to create an impression of light and graceful elegance.
Other simple seasonal touches you can add to your spring wedding include placing abundant groupings of votive candles around your centerpieces, as well as inserting a single bloom that appears in your centerpiece into each of your guest’s folded napkins.

In this economy when people are loosing their jobs everybody including brides are looking for ways to cut costs. Here are a few simple tips you can use to cut wedding day expenses.
Hire a Wedding Planner:
Now I know what you are going to say, I am trying to cut costs not increase my budget why get a wedding planner. Well, I will tell you why. Wedding coordinators receive discounts from the vendors they regularly work with, and those savings get passed on to you. Even though you will have to pay for the planners services but you are sure to save more than what her fees cost.
Choose Locally Availble Foods:
If possible choose locally available foods you could possibly save up to 15% . By choosing from your local food source you are sure to have fresher food and another plus is you can help a local framer/grower.
Buy Your Proofs From Your Photographer:
By purchasing your proofs you are able to make copies and enlarge images for family and friends at a lower cost, I did that with my proofs. Using my printer/photocopier/scanner I was able to enlarge prints, I then went to my local craft store purchased frames and framed my copies as gifts for my family and close friends. I did splurge and get my own framed photos professionally done.
